Robin Guenier is a writer, speaker and business consultant. He is interested in the impact of new technology on business and society at the beginning of the 21st century and in issues related to project risk.

Robin has an MA from Oxford University and is a barrister. After twenty years as chief executive of various high-tech businesses, he founded his consultancy, Guenier Ltd., in early 1995. Assignments since then have included a senior role at Inmarsat (global satellite communications), Chief Executive of the Central Computing and Telecommunications Agency, reporting at ministerial level to the U.K. Cabinet Office, and Executive Director of Taskforce 2000, a non-profit body set up by the British Government's Department of Trade & Industry to communicate awareness and understanding of the millennium computer problem.

He was founding chairman, and is now a non-executive director, of Medix UK plc, which uses internet-related technology via large databases of doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide a service for the pharmaceutical industry, academia and the media. Guenier advises other new technology businesses.

He has been a regular contributor to TV and radio and has had speaking engagements throughout the world. In 1998, he was voted "IT Personality of the Year" by readers of Computer Weekly and, in 1999, received the award for "Outstanding Contribution to the Industry" at the Computing Awards for Excellence.

He is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Information Technologists' Company, where he is a Court Assistant and chairs the Medicine and Health panel. He has various international contacts, particularly in North America. His current special interest is project risk, in particular in the context of IT and healthcare.
