Case Study - Chisenhale Dance Space

When Chisenhale Dance Space got in touch with iT4Communities they were experiencing irritating problems with their Macintosh computers. They were looking for some troubleshooting help and also some advice on how best to maintain the system in the long-term.

Project Summary

We were looking for an IT volunteer (specialised on MAC) that could help us troubleshoot a set up that has been done by a freelance IT engineer who initially came in to upgrade our software, collate data, increase RAM on each machine and improve our network. The work with the engineer didn't quite work out as well as expected and turned out to be extremely expensive.

At that stage we got in touch with iT4Communities to help us finding an IT volunteer that we could create a relationship with to help troubleshoot our set up and who we could call upon when having problems.

Antonio Corral was recommended to us through iT4Communities and turned out to be extremely helpful, time efficient and reliable and exactly what we were looking for to help us improving our system.

Project Delivery

Antonio Corral came in for regular troubleshooting at least once a week. In case of any emergency he would always try to come in immediately or give some email-advice to help solving the problem(s).

We developed a regular communication with him via email and would keep him updated on any issues we came across during the week that he would then try to fix for us.

Lessons learnt

All our machines got much faster and the network is working much better. Our network hardly ever crashes which happened on a daily basis before. Network issues only occur very rarely which speeds up our working process.

Frustration came from the fact that we realised that there is only very little Antonio could do with the damage that's been done by someone else. We realised that our current system has very limited resources and that, long-term, we'd need to get new machines. However we were amazed how much easier things were getting once we started working with Antonio and we do believe that he did the best he could making the very difficult set up he had to work with as efficient as possible.

Outcomes

We spend less time trying to sort our computer problems and more time on our actual work which made our lives so much easier and less frustrating.

We build up a very close working relationship with an IT volunteer that also helped us understanding our system much better.

On top of that Antonio Corral has been complete joy to work with. He's extremely qualified, time-efficient, patient and reliable and we felt very lucky having him on board.
