Case Study - Relate Brighton Hove Worthing & Districts
Volunteer Martin O'Donnell worked with the Centre's staff to define requirements for a new IT system to fit a very limited budget.
Project Summary
The aim was to update and upgrade our ICT systems which were outdated and unstable but we didn't really know what we wanted or needed. Martin worked with the Centre Manager and our administration team.
Project Delivery
Martin told us what we could achieve and gave a presentation to our Board of Trustees who agreed to the financial commitment. Initially Martin gave a full 7 hours a week both on site and at home.
Lessons learnt
Key factors: Planning, training, communication and team work and a sense of humour.
I think we could have done a bit more homework beforehand to ascertain what we needed.
Outcomes
The benefit was enormous both in financial savings and in the quality of the systems we can now operate.
Martin continues to volunteer for us as support and is always willing to help and be involved. He also helps us to get the best deals when buying hard or software.
