Collective Artistes logoSlow computers and network get some TLC

Client

Collective Artistes (CA) is a theatre company which is committed to producing socially relevant professional and community theatre that tells the stories of the African Diaspora. The charity is based in the London Borough of Lambeth.

The challenge

CA has a small server-based network of PCs and they weren't sure that their network was secure. They weren't backing up the server regularly and they found that the PCs were running slowly. They wanted an iT4Communities volunteer to take a good look at their system, clean it up if necessary and advise them on the IT procedures they ought to be carrying out

Our help

Scene from Trojan Women

A scene from 'Trojan Women - Women of Owu' by Femi Osofisan, produced by Collective Artistes

Robert Bramble, offered the wealth of his 15 years IT experience, whilst on a career break. He spent half a day with Victoria Shaskan, Collective Artistes' Development Manager, to review their systems and then further sessions working remotely defragmenting the server's hard drive, and installing service packs and anti-virus software until everything ran much more safely and securely.

The results

  • Computers that work much better
  • Increased efficiency
  • Advice on how to develop the network

What our client said

Robert was extremely professional and competent. He understood the needs of a small charity and was able to make improvements, even without a budget for new equipment. He was flexible and easy to work with. It was a fantastic experience working with him
