Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon logoStrategic planning gives clear direction

Client

The Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon is a charity that works with vulnerable people and supports community projects in areas of deprivation and rural isolation.

The challenge

The charity's equipment and software was donated and it had problems backing-up its data because its server had low capacity. It was also paying for IT support and in-house staff did not have enough experience to undertake a strategic review of the charity's IT requirements.

Our help

Community Foundation team

The Community Foundation for Wiltshire & Swindon team, from l to r, Heidi Yorke programme director, Mrs Rosemary Macdonald Chief Executive and Jon Yorke development director.

iT4Communities volunteer Niall Ramsey, a consultant with over 10 years experience, did a strategic review and made recommendations for the charity's future IT needs relating them to its strategic plan. This gave the charity a clear brief to talk to suppliers and to ensure that they got a good deal. In total the project took about six weeks.

The results

  • A clear strategic direction for the Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon's IT purchasing.
  • Future proofing the organization to ensure that their business objectives could be achieved.

What our client said

The attitude of our volunteer Niall Ramsey and the understanding he had of our operation made a very successful project. Niall was very helpful and thorough - he also used plain English, which was a great relief!
