Infected website restored
Client
Good4you is a charity based in south London which campaigns on behalf of, and with, homeless and disabled people.
The challenge
Somehow their simple website got infected with injected scripts. Good4you contacted iT4Communities and requested a volunteer to resuscitate the site and make sure it was clean and safe for their visitors to use.
Our help
Chris Dean, an iT4Communities volunteer with 24 years experience, quickly identified the source of the cross-scripting attack which had resulted in the suspension of the website accounts. The weakness was the software used by the genealogy site that shared the hosting account. Upgrading the genealogy software closed the vulnerabilities.
Scafell Pike Wheelchair Challenge
Whilst their main site was down the charity had created a temporary Google site and installed Joomla onto their main web hosting account. Chris customised the Joomla installation for them and transferred the content from the temporary site.
The results
- The return and improvement of the charity website.
- Addition of skills and knowledge to the charity concerning website maintenance.
- Volunteer contribution of ideas
What our client said
Mr Dean was a highly skilled and dedicated volunteer who did essential work for this organisation. Chris made it possible for us
to report the 'Scafell Pike Wheelchair Challenge' event on our website. He put a video of the event on our home page - a nice high
impact position!
