Volunteer key to providing accurate IT infrastructure
Client
Keyfund is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and provides young people with the opportunity to develop the skills, confidence and self awareness needed to better reach their potential and play a positive role in their community.
The challenge
The charity needed expert help to assess their current IT situation. They then asked the volunteer to specify IT support needs and identify cost-effective solutions.
Our help
iT4Communities volunteer Gary Hall provided Keyfund with a range of support including a full assessment of their IT infrastructure; a hardware & software assessment and a back-up policy. He also carried out technical work to improve the performance of the IT infrastructure. Gary gave up his evenings and weekends over a number of months to help finish the initial project. He is now helping the charity to implement some of the recommendations he made and is assisting them in sourcing effective on-going IT support.
The results
- A concise and accurate picture of Keyfund's IT infrastructure.
- Good advice and recommendations on how to make improvements.
- The organisation has been able to prioritise their IT objectives in order to move forward and make efficiency improvements.
- Freed up resources to concentrate on their work with young people.
What our client said
Having a clear brief at the start of the experience was extremely important and enabled both us and the volunteer to have a
clear focus and expectations. It has been fantastic to have such a professional and committed volunteer who has given above and
beyond what is expected and we hope to continue working together in the future.
