MAD logoNew database makes a difference

Client

Based in London's West End, The 'Make A Difference' Trust (MAD) brings together the British entertainment community and its audiences to raise funds to support people living with HIV and AIDS, and those in the entertainment industry facing hardship as a result of a long-term medical condition.

The challenge

The charity had invested in Filemaker Pro software, but they did not know how to use it. Professional Filemaker Pro developers would charge high daily fees to help. MAD contacted iT4Communities and ask for help to find a database expert, willing to donate their time and expertise in setting up the software into a format which could be made use of by the charity on a day to day basis.

Our help

Legally Blonde

'Legally Blonde' winners of West End Eurovision 2011 organised by The Make A Difference Trust

iT4Communities volunteer, Manji Bhudia, spent time working on the project both at his home and at MAD's offices. Manji's work will ultimately enable MAD to keep all of their contact data, event and volunteering history, in a single database.

The results

  • All contact data in a single database
  • Enabled the charity to be more efficient and responsive
  • Help them move forward into setting up more projects

What our client said

Manji's involvement with the project has been extremely professional, extremely productive and extremely valuable to us. He is a very charming gentleman with over 20 years of IT experience. He is also very patient (which is important when dealing with me and my initially limited understanding of Filemaker Pro and how to approach working with it). Manji has proved to us that Filemaker (FM) will do for us all of what we want it to, but he has also taught us that we have to be very precise and specific in defining exactly what it is that we want from the software. Manji has been a great help to us with FM and has achieved everything with the software which we have asked of him to date.
