Case Study - Progressio

Progressio, formerly the Catholic Institute for International Relations, is an international development charity working for justice and the eradication of poverty. They already had an interactive website when they got in touch with iT4C but needed help adding a new on-line form. Volunteer Aniuska Dominguez was able to add the form and link it to a database to provide the functionality they needed.

Project Summary

Create an on-line form (web page) for sending letters to specified recipients (MPs or others) for the purpose of furthering specific advocacy work.

Project Delivery

Creation of a MySQL database to hold email recipient and campaign details for enclosure in the email. PHP scripts used to integrate the database with the online petition forms. Aniuska commenced work on the project in August 2005 and completed it in February 2006. Time put in varied but estimated at 10 hours a month, approx 50 hours for the project.

Lessons learnt

The project was completed to the full satisfaction of the organisation. Key to the success was having regular progress update meetings to provide feedback on the software design. There wasn't anything we would have done differently.

Outcomes

We now have a fully functioning on-line campaign form which members of the public can use to petition MPs and others on specific advocacy campaigns. The contents/ recipients are fully customisable to the requirements of the individual campaign. Aniuska's work was highly professional and very high standard, the final product met the project brief fully and she provided comprehensive documentation to accompany the work.
