Case Study - Through the Roof
Through the Roof is a Christian disability ministry working in partnership with churches and other organisations to promote access and inclusion of disabled people in every area of church life.
They have a small network of PCs and one of their staff regularly dials-in to the network from home. They contacted iT4C when the network started to become unreliable. Volunteer Adrian Wilkinson worked with them to review and advise on the network with the aim of providing a robust network and good working practices.
Project Delivery
This involved a half day on site discussing the working of the Charity and existing practises with an unknown time spent producing two comprehensive reports on the system as it is now, and proposals for the future. After an office move Adrian then visited to sort out network problems.
Lessons learnt
The willingness of Adrian to go the extra mile and to be patient when asked stupid questions. He explained all options and consequences clearly giving clear explanations. On looking back nothing would be done differently
Outcomes
An IT network that is secure and robust which builds confidence in it by the staff.
