5 month commitment by volunteer brings project to successful conclusion
Client
Whittington Park Community Association is a long-established charity. Based in the London Borough of Islington, it provides services to all age ranges of their community, serving about 15,000 members. They also have a social enterprise which runs a community cafe.
The challenge
During the last 4 years, there were haphazard additions made to their network. They needed a volunteer to audit their PCs, check that anti-virus software and firewall protection was up to date, and backup was adequate and create default ghost images for office users and community service users. There was also an associated project to review and improve their PC network, plus some other additional work.
Our help
Slava Balakleytsev responded to this request for help and when he met up with Theodore Spyrou, he advised a complete review of the organisation's IT systems. Slava has over 9 years of IT experience. His extensive knowledge and his ability to easily translate complicated IT issues into everyday language resulted in a very successful project for the charity. Slava spent the next 5 months working with the charity. The time commitment and investment given to the organisation by the volunteer allowed them to realise a level of IT support and usage of their IT systems which would have been impossible without his dedication, commitment and support. The organisation, with Slava's help, managed to recycle 100% of its current technology into better usage by upgrading and refreshing old laptops and computers that were effectively defunct.
The results
- A fully working internal network that utilizes CCTV and backup procedures
- Recycled 100% of its current technology into better usage
- A substantial increase in performance and working outputs
What our client said
Slava is an exceptional individual, his charisma, knowledge and unprecedented understanding of applying IT in the voluntary sector is not comparable to anything we have come across before. We have effectively achieved, as an organisation, something that simply would have been a dream for us without the gift that Slava has brought to our organisation.
