iT4Communities Mentoring Project - Ask for a mentor
Would you like to build your professional IT and personal/business skills whilst delivering an IT project to a charity as a volunteer? We will match you to an experienced mentor who will be part of the support available to you as you work on a charitable project to enhance your experience and CV.
How to apply: please send a short biography (two paragraphs) and a statement of commitment to the criteria given below to jason.king@it4communities.org.uk
We welcome applications from across the UK.
We have a LinkedIn group which volunteers, mentors and charities can join to discuss mentoring. There you'll also find details of a free seminar in central London on 19th April 2010.
We will ask mentees to commit to:
- Approx. 6 hours per week but may be less and can be more if you wish
- Have gained an IT qualification of NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Have good business English and access to a phone and broadband connected computer
- Use your skills and the support network to provide an appropriate IT solution for the charity
- Have regular contact with the mentor (approx. 1 hour every fortnight)
- Be self motivated and committed to skills development as part of the project
- Complete at least one charity project before July 2010
- Participate with the online network connected with this project and the other mentees/mentors
- Give feedback as the project progresses
iT4Communities cannot guarantee a place on this programme but will endeavour to support as many interested volunteers as possible.
