Between April last year and March this year, iT4C ran a series of workshops co-hosted by CVS, volunteer centres and other infrastructure support agencies. Called ‘Free ICT Support – Working with Volunteers’ the attendees were given the opportunity to discuss their IT projects and support needs and look at the ways that an IT volunteer may (or may not) be in a position to help. The facilitators were consultants with many years experience of IT in the community and voluntary sector and the feedback from attendees was extremely good.
Due to the success of the programme, iT4C has secured funding to run another series of these workshops over the next 12 months so they can be delivered at no cost to attendees. Again, we will be working with CVS and other infrastructure groups to help us organise venues and ensure we reach the right audience.
As the newsletter is only sent once a quarter we may not be able to tell you in time of all the events so we ask you to check the ICT Hub website: www.icthub.org.uk/events . We will also endeavour to email people within the locality of a workshop 2 or 3 weeks before it is due to run with more details.
Your CVS will also advertise any workshops they host with us through their usual channels.
Aim of workshops: enable you to feel confident that you could use an IT volunteer to support your organization and to give you ideas of how an IT volunteer could make a difference and what they could do
