IT Volunteer Awards

We are pleased to announce the launch of IT Volunteer Awards2007 to be held on the 29th November 2007 at the Information Technologists' Hall in London. This year's theme is 'Working Towards a Better World'. These awards are designed to promote the valued role volunteer IT Professionals are playing in supporting charities and voluntary sector groups.

This is also an opportunity for your organisation to win £250 cash prize plus extensive media coverage which will raise the profile of your organisation. In addition your volunteer(s) will receive recognition for their valued input.

There are 4 categories in this year's awards:

1 - Best IT Volunteer
We are looking for charities to nominate the IT volunteer that has really made a difference to their organisation.
2 - Best IT Volunteering Project - impact on organisations
This will be awarded jointly to a volunteer and a charity who have worked together on a successful project. The key issue is impact – i.e. what difference has the IT project made to the way you work. The project can be very simple.
3 - Best IT Volunteering Project - innovation
This will be awarded jointly to a volunteer and a charity who have worked together on a successful innovative project that has broken some new ground. This could be a new way you are using technology already in existence.
4 - Best Accessible IT Volunteering Project
This will be awarded jointly to a volunteer and a charity who have worked together on a successful project which used IT to have a direct positive impact for people with disabilities. This could be a project providing IT skills training for people with disabilities or alternatively something along the lines of building an accessible website which meant the people with disabilities can access information.

We would like you to take part by nominating volunteers who have helped your organisation with IT issues. If you are not too sure whether or not your project qualifies, contact us: info@iT4Communities.org.uk for further guidance.
