BT Conferencing - how technology can reduce CO2 emissions
Anne attended an interesting evening of talks on 11 July including presentations from the BT Sustainability team and the Environment Agency who were talking about the savings they made by holding virtual meetings either over the phone or online and by flexible working.
Just a few facts and figures:
- BT has reduced their carbon emissions by 60% over a year
- The Environment Agency used to travel a vast amount of miles for work-related meetings and have reduced their travel miles considerably.
- They think they work smarter and more efficiently as well as have less impact on the environment
They both spoke of additional benefits including having a more flexible and inclusive workforce and a better work/life balance for employees.
