Faster Matching of Volunteers to Opportunities - iT4C Goes RSS

As you probably know, we have another newsletter which goes to our 4,000+ volunteers. In that newsletter we have always featured opportunities we want to draw especially to their attention. We will soon be expanding this so all new or changed opportunities to volunteer are visible as soon as we publish them. We will use a technology called RSS to do this - like the BBC - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/3223484.stm

As always, volunteers won't be able to ask for your contact details without signing on to the system - so we know precisely who has been put in touch with who and your privacy is thus protected in exactly the same way as before. Contact us soon if you have any questions about this.

RSS means that keen volunteers can respond to a new opportunity as soon as we put it on the system. As before you'll get an email with their contacts when that happens. From then on it's as before - talk to them as professionals - ask for CVs, references, etc. as you think fit - decide to go ahead with that volunteer (or not) - let us know when you agree that the work can start (so we remove the opportunity and you don't hear from more volunteers).

RSS is just a way of making our service to you and our volunteers faster and more efficient - As always, if it works for you tell your friends, if it doesn't tell us!
