An invitation to contribute to the ICT Hub Knowledgebase
As you may know the ICT Hub Knowledgebase is now live on www.icthubknowledgebase.org.uk We've had some great new content written and there are now over 350 articles in the Knowledgebase. However, and we are keen to keep up the momentum.Writing for Knowledgebase is a great way to promote yourself and your organisation. So this is a call for any budding content writers amongst our iT4C volunteers to come out of the woodwork and get writing.
In general we'd want to release content under a creative commons license (creativecommons.org/licenses) (i.e. attribution, no commercial use, no derivative works).
The topics we still need covering are
- Non Microsoft alternatives to Small Business Server / Windows 2003 Server
- Databases: implementing and using databases in organisations (good practice, pleasures, pitfalls, case studies etc.)
- Macs and databases
- Software: donor management, contact management, email clients (general overview of the market including open source alternatives, and what's appropriate for different sized organisations, platforms etc.)
- Buying a portable computer
It would also be helpful to get proposals and suggestions for other articles that may be of interest to the sector.
Our ICT Hub colleagues at LASA run the Knowledgebase and if you feel inspired to write or just to enquire about what it involves then you should get in touch with Aba Maison at LASA amaison@lasa.org.uk Tel: 020 7426 4473.
Aba is an experienced IT professional with a substantial track record in the sector so she will be able to discuss both the technical issues around any proposed content and any sector-specific needs too.
