Don't be put off if you see "Sorry, work package requests are temporarily unavailable." when you are linking through to Work Packages from Projects of the Month and the iT4C Volunteer Bulletin. Requests are almost certainly are still available. Here's the bug -
We send you links to Work Packages (soon to be called Volunteer Opportunities) from the Newsletter Projects of the Month. These only work as long as the WP is still available. Sometimes it isn't - for example last time (Newsletter 30) we had -
Work Package Name: New Website Host - Advice URGENT March 07
- with a URL -
http://www.iT4Communities.org.uk/iT4C/volunteer/workpackageDetailsView.do?extback=
search&workPackageId=54298
This WP is no longer available and the error message you get is a lie!
"Sorry, work package requests are temporarily unavailable."
- when it should be something along the lines of "Sorry, this work package is no longer available."Of course we'll be fixing this as soon as we can but, until then, treat the "requests are temporarily unavailable" message as "work package is no longer available" unless you keep seeing it - in which case get on the phone to us immediately because we have a big problem!
Sorry about this but you may remember what Dijkstra said about testing and bugs
