You should be getting the first of the iT4C Volunteer Opportunities Bulletin in the next couple of weeks. The Bulletin will list all the volunteer opportunities added to our site during the previous 4 weeks that haven’t been assigned to a volunteer. This will ensure that the work packages listed in the Bulletin are up to date and that when you contact the organisations, you hopefully won’t get the dreaded ‘dead telephone line’ or ‘Mail Delivery Failed’ message.
Please note that we will also be introducing an RSS feed of opportunities from iT4C later on this year. This will enable you to see opportunities as they are posted on the system. We hope this will be a better way of letting you see what is available. We'd be interested in comments on this and ways in which we and you might build upon it (for example we have been looking at Yahoo Pipes) but we aren't experts in this area, so comments and ideas from you are not just welcome but vital.
We’ll be using the iT4Communities Volunteer Newsletter mailing list to send you The Bulletin, so if you don’t want to receive it, then I’m afraid you’ll have to unsubscribe from the Volunteer Newsletter as well. We don’t have a way at the moment for you to be able to subscribe to one or the other.
To unsubscribe from the Volunteer Newsletter here’s what to do.
- Login to your account with the username and password
- Choose 'My Account' from the left hand menu
- Tick the box next to 'Would you like to opt out of the email newsletter’?
- Click the 'Submit' button
(You can also change any of your account details. You might also want to amend your username (login ID) and password so that they are more memorable to you).
When the Bulletin has been published, please let me know if you find it useful and if there are any further ways we can make it easier for you to search for ‘iT4Communities Volunteer Opportunities’. Older volunteer opportunities will continue to be featured in the iT4C Volunteer Newsletter ‘Projects of the Month’.
