Congratulations to Yewande Olowokere for winning the Volunteer Week challenge 2007. Yewande received a bottle of champagne with the compliments of the iT4C Team.
Yewande was one amongst many of you who responded to the challenge. Amongst the various 5-minute tasks IT Volunteers around the country managed to do were:
"Called the charity I am working with - to check if the network system I put in place is ok."
"Renewed a domain name registration"
"Complete the website I have been working on and published it."
"Just popped in to say 'hello is everything ok' "
"Held a review meeting"
"I tried yet again to contact the charity - without much luck"
"Sending 6 emails to colleagues my department to join iT4C as volunteers"
(I am happy to say that 3 of the people referred registered with iT4C and two have taken up 2 website projects). Many thanks to Errol for this."In one week, I met with my clients for a day; it was an opportunity for them to meet me in person and also for me to define the work for the project in detail. Prior to the meeting we had exchanged several emails and phone calls to scope out the work. For the rest of the week I began work on the project, which I fit around my day job." (Yewande)
We would like to say thank you to all of you who took part in the challenge. I hope you found the week as rewarding as we did.
If you have any other suggestions on how iT4C can spearhead the recruitment drive we would love to hear from you - info@iT4Communities.org.uk
We have just launched our annual IT Volunteer Awards 2007 for which you may like to register.
