Welcome to Issue 36 of the iT4Communities Volunteer Newsletter.
Firstly I must introduce myself as your new newsletter editor. I've worked with iT4Communities on a contract basis since July 2005. My main role is as a project definer - that means I write some of those descriptions that you read when searching for volunteering opportunities. I've also been involved with specifying and project managing the recent changes to the functionality of the website.
I'm taking over as newsletter editor because, sadly, Tam Williams has moved on to a new job. We wish her well. She did an excellent job editing both volunteer and charity newsletters and will be a hard act to follow.
One of Tam's other tasks was to organise our annual awards and she arranged a splendid event last November. We hope that this year's awards will be equally exciting for all involved and we hope that you will consider nominating yourself, your project or the charity you're working with for an award. Don't leave it too late - the closing date is Saturday 6th October.
Elsewhere in this issue we remind you of our new RSS feed. Have you subscribed yet? What do you think? We also describe some of our attempts to keep the opportunities on the site up-to-date. We still need your help. Let us know if you can't contact charities or if the opportunities are no longer available.
As ever we love to hear from you. Please send bouquets and brickbats, comments and suggestions to info@it4communities.org.uk We'll try to feature as many of your ideas in future newsletters.
Best wishes,
Anne Donnelly - Newsletter Editor
