You may have noticed when you registered with us that we ask you to name your region of the UK. What we didn't tell you is how to find out what region you are in. Its easy enough in N5 (London) or EH1 (Scotland) but where is Rickmansworth? For the simply curious or the nicely helpful (to
iT4C) just go to _http://www.gos.gov.uk/national_ which has a search box "Find which region your City/Town is in" for the 9 English regions.
I guess everyone else in the UK knows where they are, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland (although I have heard pedants arguing about Monmouth and Berwick upon Tweed).
We haven't found an official way of turning postcode into region - and you may recall from our previous newsletters that the new web system, in it's second, stage will allow you to search for volunteering opportunities by distance. We think this is quite smart but sadly we can't find a way of mapping postcode to region - please let us know if you have found one.
