Free IT and Web Accessibility Workshops
iT4Communities is running a series of workshops in partnership with AbilityNet, a national charity that provides independent advice and information on all aspects making ICT accessible for people with a disability or limiting condition.
The ICT Hub has launched a new website to enable VCOs to easily access ICT resources at the click of a mouse. The new site, www.icthub.org.uk will enable VCOs to take practical steps to benefit more from information communication technology such as developing websites and databases, managing networks and making hardware and software accessible for people with disabilities.

Knowledgebase is now live on www.icthubknowledgebase.org.uk.
It builds on and supersedes the old LASA Knowledgebase and is similarly aimed at:- very small, small, medium sized voluntary and community sector organisations
- decision makers, implementers (e.g. accidental techies, circuit riders etc.), ICT users (in organisation context), and others interested in ICT issues.
Knowledgebase is also looking for new content relevant to ICT in the voluntary and community sector, so any budding content writers out there please get in touch with ICT Hub Knowledgebase to discuss and get a tighter brief. They have a budget this year to commission content.
In general they would want to release content under a creative commons license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/ (attribution, no commercial use, no derivative works).So far areas identified as needing additional content include:
Software: accounting, fundraising and donor management, contact management, publishing, multilingual, email clients (general overview of the market including open source alternatives, and what's appropriate for different sized organisations, platforms etc.);
Databases: implementing and using databases in organisations (good practice, pleasures, pitfalls etc.) ICT Equipment: Replacement strategy,So get cracking!
