The Worshipful Company of Information Technologist (WCIT) hosted a lively event on 30 June where 22 iT4Communities volunteers gathered to attend a workshop about Website Accessibility, led by AbilityNet, an ICT Hub partner.
The session was a 3 hour round up about how to ensure that the websites volunteers are building are accessible to as many of the population as possible, taking into consideration a range of possible difficulties with sight, motor skills and general awareness of the way people wish to use the Internet.
The response was extremely positive with over 25% of people finding it ‘exceptional’ and 100% rating it highly.
iT4C are now taking this training ‘on the road’ to reach our many volunteers who are not based in London. The next one is being hosted in Manchester. More information about this event is available online or contact tam@wcit.org.uk
