Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Journeyman Committee

If any young iT4C volunteers would be interested in joining the Journeyman scheme with a view to broadening their knowledge and understanding of the IT industry we would be delighted to hear from them. The Journeyman Scheme offers young, qualified IT professionals the chance to work with an experienced WCIT mentor who will help them to plan, review and record their training and development over the three year period of their “journey”. Typically, journeyman will be aged between 25 and 35 when starting their journey.

Undertaking a journey is an ideal way for younger IT professionals to participate in the work and activities of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT). At the end of your journey your mentor can assist you with applying for full membership of the Company.

The Journeyman Scheme benefits both the IT professional and his or her employer. Journeymen get the chance to network both among themselves and with all of the members of the WCIT at the various events that the company runs on a regular basis. They can also contribute to the work of the Company’s various panels thereby gaining further valuable practical experience and insight.

Employers benefit from the additional experience and knowledge that their Journeyman employees gain. The scheme has no material impact on the employers business as mentors provide their time on a pro bono basis and mentoring sessions take place outside working hours. Employers may also be invited to attend Company events.
