Digital Unite are holding their annual Silver Surfers Day (SSD) on 23rd May aimed at helping 10 million over-50's taste the delights of life on the web and give them an appetite for more.

Any organisation can join in by holding a Silver Surfers' Day IT taster event to change people's lives this May. You just need to offer an hour or so of your time per visitor and the free SSD Resources will do the rest. Remember, no event is too small!

This year they will have 35+ neat, easy, jargon-free tutor-aids. There are short explanations of things as diverse as podcasting and I-player, blogging and Facebook. The very basics, such as an overview of the kit itself, keyboard and mouse manipulation and explanations about digital switchover, and signposting for those who want more formal learning are there, too.

Charities registered with iT4Communities who want to hold an event can request an iT4C volunteer via the website in the usual way.
