iT4Communities hosts a workshop for funders
I was pleased to jointly host a workshop on Thursday 22nd with Henry Warren of Gemin-i. The members of the ACF (Association of Charitable Foundations) were invited to discuss how they can assess IT elements of projects they are asked to fund.
Gemin-i are an organization that run a private social networking website for young people in UK schools to work on curriculum projects with students in African schools. Henry Warren has a wealth of knowledge about using social networking for learning and he is also a keen follower of all the latest useful tools that the Internet has to offer.
He showcased some exemplary projects such as Ushahidi which uses technology in crisis situations: www.ushahidi.com
I was able to talk about the projects, such as yours, and how we see UK VCS using technology and struggling to fund it. I shared with them the handbook for Funders developed as part of the ICT Hub 'Making More Impact With Your Funds' (pdf)
