Are you letting our volunteers down?

Is yours the organisation that our volunteer is talking about in this email we received last week? Our volunteer said I have made a few enquiries and heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement or a 'no thanks' ... I will probably not be making further offers.

Unfortunately this sentiment is not out of the ordinary and represents the feelings of many of our volunteers.

We know you are busy - and priorities change, that is why we are here. Please keep in touch with us and please do not ignore our volunteers - you may not need them now (another volunteer may be working on your project), but someone else might and you may also need them in the future.

  • Do you get emails that say A volunteer has requested details of your volunteer opportunity ... and don't know what to do?
  • Do you get emails from someone attaching an IT CV and offering help, and wonder why?

You, or someone else in your organisation, probably requested help. We can check our records, please make a quick call: 020 7796 2144 (we usually pick up, if not, leave a message) or email us: info@it4communities.org.uk

If we lose the goodwill of our volunteers then this service will no longer be available and over half a million pounds worth of skills given for free will be lost to the 200+ charities we support every year.

So if you get some interest in your project from a volunteer, please respond to their calls or emails as soon as you possibly can. If a volunteer is already working on your project, please let others know they're not needed and thank them for their interest - and please contact us to let us know.

Thank you to all of you who do keep in touch with iT4C's volunteers and the iT4C team.

Nigel Davies, iT4Communities Administrator
