iT4Communities Website

The New Year, a time for resolutions. Have you met Nag?

We know that you will have already made your New Year's resolutions and we wish you good luck with them. Our partners at UnLtd awarded help to a social enterprise called 'The Nag'. The Nag is an online service to help keep all of us on track with our pledges for improvements in our lives.

We hope that your resolutions include completing one iT4C volunteer opportunity in 2008 or even three or four of our 'short task' opportunities (these can often be resolved with advice over the phone). Search for opportunities on the website or subscribe to our RSS feed.

If it's not possible for you to volunteer in 2008 then perhaps you can tell five friends/colleagues about us. If all our volunteers did this then 20,000 more IT professionals would know about ways to help make a direct difference to the charities and communities we work with! And don't forget to tell charities and community groups about us too. The more charities we work with the more opportunities we can offer you.

At iT4C our resolution is to raise our successful match of volunteer to project from the current one in three to at least 50%.

While I was thinking of resolutions I thought I'd ask the rest of the team what they were planning.

Josh Hoole, who looks after our marketing and PR says that his resolution is to make sure even more IT volunteers and charities know about iT4C and register with us.

Anne Donnelly, a project definer who also maintains the website, is planning to learn more about accessibility so she can ensure that our website meets accessibility standards.

Our project definer based in the Scottish Borders, Peter Munro, says that he hopes to make iT4C more widely known to charities, community groups, social enterprises, and to volunteers in Scotland.

And mine? I hope to tell more potential volunteers about the benefits of volunteering with iT4C and assist with more company volunteering schemes.

Even if we don't stick to those resolutions we are going to spend a lot of time getting out and about, encouraging more volunteers to join and to make it easier for volunteers to find suitable and exciting projects. We are always open to suggestions so if you have a good idea to help us achieve this please get in touch via email on info@it4communities.org.uk or call 020 7796 2144.
