John will deliver the keynote speech at the Monash Community Networks Conference on 17th June to officials from the Australian federal and state government, New Zealand officials, senior Community Networking researchers at Monash, and Australian community-based organisations. The talk will focus on iT4C's successful service in the UK and how Australia can develop the model to benefit organisations in their charity and voluntary sector.
Director of the Centre for Community Networking Research, Professor Graeme Johanson, Ph.D., said: "We are greatly impressed by the potential for the development of an iT4C model in Australia and nothing will help quite as much as John's visit to talk both to us and the Australian officials on how to do this."
John said: "This is a very exciting opportunity for iT4Communities to showcase its many successes and to help Monash University to develop a professional IT volunteering programme that works for the voluntary sector in Australia. We are very grateful to Monash for the offer and the sponsorship that has made this trip possible."
John's trip is sponsored by the Caulfield School of Information Technology at Monash.
