A Week To Celebrate
Volunteers' Week is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering which takes place in the first week of June each year.
It plays a huge part in raising the profile of England's 22 million volunteers while encouraging others to get involved. In fact, in 2007 three quarters of all adults volunteered in some capacity and two thirds of 25-34 year olds and over 65's said that volunteering helped them feel less stressed.
iT4Communities would like to thank all of our 5,200 volunteers for all the effort you've put in by sharing your time and talent with charities all across the UK. Thanks to your help iT4C has delivered over £2.75 million worth of much needed IT services to the voluntary sector and made a huge difference to a huge range of people.
This is a great week to get involved with as many projects as possible. Right now there are over 200 opportunities nationally from Padstow to Perth, with many based in and around London. Click on the RSS feed or sign in to search for someone who needs your skills.
There's a Volunteers' Week video showing students talking about what they've gained from volunteering, including one whose volunteering earned him a place on a Government's Voluntary Sector advisory board.
If you know anyone else with the talent to change charities and social enterprises for the better then please encourage them to get on board - we always need more volunteers! Forward.
