Active matching pilot project
As well as the usual project definitions and on-going support to volunteers and organisations the main project we're working on at the moment is a pilot of an active matching scheme.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to find interesting opportunities which suit your skills. One of the ideas we've been considering for a while is for us to tell you about those opportunities - so you don't need to remember to search for them. We call this "active matching".
A few weeks ago we asked for "guinea pigs" to take part in a pilot scheme and we're thrilled to have had such a good response. We'll be contacting everyone chosen to take part in the next few days. We look forward to your feedback both during and after the pilot.
Apologies if you're not one of the chosen few. The pilot will involve quite a bit of manual processing so we have to restrict the numbers involved.
We plan to run the pilot for about three months. Hopefully, that should give us a chance to discover the pluses and minuses of the scheme.
After that, assuming it goes well, we'll be looking at how we can build it into the existing website early in 2009.
Of course, if you've any other ideas to make it easier for you to help the charities we all support, please let us know.
