Good for you!
Volunteering can help you live longer!
A recent report compiled by researchers at Lampeter University, Wales on behalf of Volunteering England has concluded that there are many health benefits associated with volunteering. Some of the findings are fairly obvious - volunteers working on environmental projects are likely to be physically fitter - but others point to improved mental health, better family relationships and higher self-confidence.
So if you're dreading another bout of flu this winter why not look for a volunteering opportunity now? It could save you from a week in bed with only a bottle of Nightnurse and daytime TV for consolation.
You can read more about the survey on the Volunteering England website.
The report also claimed that volunteers eat more healthily. I can confirm that - I often return from volunteering clutching home grown tomatoes or a jar of home made marmalade!
