Digital Unite's Workshop on helping older people come to grips with IT
This is taking place in Edinburgh and Sheffield in early 2009:
- Edinburgh, Centre for Older Person's Agenda, Queen Margaret University, on Wednesday, February 11th
- Sheffield, UK online centres HQ, The Quadrant in Sheffield, S9 4WG on March 12th
If you are involved with helping older people come to grips with modern information technology (computers, Internet), or you'd like to become involved, please come to Digital Unite's one-day Workshop at one of the above venues.
You will spend a creative day with like-minded others, absorbing information, sharing experience, and brainstorming the issues and challenges so that you can return to your organisation with enthusiasm, ideas, plans and (most important), a sustainable strategy to help you make every ounce of your effort count well into the future.
We, at Digital Unite, have many years of experience addressing the issue of 'digital isolation' amongst older people, and work constantly with other organisations to absorb and re-present current good practice.
Not only will you find out about the highly successful 'DU way' of bringing sustainable IT programmes into a wide range of communities, but you will explore in detail how to use outreach opportunities such as Silver Surfers' Day (on May 15 in 2009), to help your older clients to participate more easily in modern life.
Facilitated by Brian Eisenberg and Fiona Syrett of Digital Unite.
Costs: £75 per head or £120 for two from same organisation.
Timings: 10am-5pm
