Opportunity Name: Nice design required for small website
Skill Type: Website

Opportunity Name: Simple contacts database on Apple Mac
Skill Type: Database
Region: London
Locality: London
Postcode: W4
Virtual: NoDescription: Although only a year old this charity is already working with a number of projects throughout the developing world. They set up and support community music projects for some of the most deprived children by providing funding for instruments, music stands, books, teacher training, etc. They aim to use both local traditional and classical music to help young people learn life skills such as teamwork and leadership and generally build their confidence. They have a small UK-based team of volunteers who need help to share and manage their contacts. They all use Apple Macs and have tried to set up a contacts database using the software that came pre-installed on the Mac - they're not sure what this is called and it may simply be an address book tool rather than a true database. However, they've not been able to share the data. They don't want to do anything sophisticated - they want to store contact information and categorise it according to a set of pre-defined categories; they'd like to flag the people who receive their e-newsletter and export that subset to the online newsletter software they use at createsend.com. Three people need to share the information - the Macs aren't networked - so they'll need to ensure that the data is synchronised. Ideally this is an opportunity for a volunteer with Mac experience but anyone who knows about databases and is prepared to experiment a little could probably help.

If so, a new international Internet-based charity venture wants to hear from you. The venture is based around the theme of Gratitude and Social Wellbeing. Our aim is to help encourage people to change the way they look at their lives by focusing on what they are grateful for, rather than all the bad stuff in their lives. We are looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic volunteers who can use their web experience to help change the world for the better. OUR BACKGROUND: We are a small team of three people who have put in eighteen months work to create a concept and a full technical specification for the website. Between us, we have 20 years of web background including running a number of popular web sites in the UK. We have lots of ideas and web marketing skills, but limited technical nouse (i.e. enough to hold our own in a conversation with a web wizard, but we'd be dangerous with a username and password in phpmyadmin!) SITE BACKGROUND: IS THIS YOU? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for contributing to a project that will make a big difference. The site is now ready to be built and we are looking for a small team consisting of: 1) WEB DEVELOPERS - we are looking for up to three developers who can work together (either virtually or together). We would like a Web 2.0 site developed using PHP, AJAX and MySQL. 2) A PROJECT MANAGER who has experience of managing and delivering web projects.
