Can we help you to help? - the new iT4Communities Mentoring Project
Are you passionate about using your IT skills to help charities? Do you want to help other people build a career in IT - or are you new to IT and need experience to help you secure that first job? The iT4Communities Mentoring Project might be just what you are looking for.
The Nominet Trust has given us a grant to expand our iT4Communities volunteering programme and help newly qualified IT people gain experience by working on charity IT projects with an experienced volunteer as a mentor. We are particularly keen to work with new IT graduates and unemployed people of any age who have gained IT qualifications to change career.
Commitment from mentors:
- To attend a short induction course & participate in a half day seminar (there will be opportunities for more involvement if you would like!)
- About 1 day per month from Sept 2009 to March 2010
Commitment from newly qualified IT volunteers:
- Sept - March availability (approx. half a day a week or short blocks of several days )
- To complete at least one volunteer IT project
- To participate in at least one seminar
iT4Communities will help find suitable charitable projects of interest to you and will be available for support during the project.
This will be a UK-wide programme with the location of seminars and induction sessions to be confirmed once participants are selected.
