They also promote healthy eating by providing an affordable fruit and vegetable delivery service from a local sustainable farm. They have other projects too. They have installed Adobe Contribute CS3, to help them make changes to their website, but it's not working properly. They are looking for someone with knowledge in setting up Contribute who can get it to work correctly, and provide a short hand-holding session to help them use the software to its full advantage.

Description: This West London homeless day centre provides a range of activities including arts, computing and the communal cooking as an essential part of the support needed for people who are homeless for complex reasons. A small team of day centre clients began producing a newsletter that allowed them to showcase their art and to promote the services of the day centre. They need a volunteer who can help them produce this newsletter on the computer. This activity will result in a publication to be proud of and to send to potential funders but most importantly the activity of production will be sharing of skills, team work and increasing self esteem. This newsletter will be a voice for those who often do not have a way to express themselves. This project is for a volunteer who can visit the centre on a Mon, Tues, or Wednesday for a couple of hours weekly to produce the first issue. Subsequent issues should be able to be managed by the client team. Patience and an understanding of the causes of homelessness are as important as technical skills. Software that will be used is unknown but it may be just Word for ease for clients.

They're looking for someone to build them a website to attract young people, and provide them with the opportunity to interact with the website. They want a fairly simple website to begin with, including a blog, information pages, links, FAQ, and a rotating image on the front page. They want to be able to update the site themselves, so you'll need to implement a content management system (CMS) that will cater for their current simple needs and their long term ambitions, and train them how to use it. A blog CMS might be ideal, however it's important to them that they have the functionality of a blog, but that the website doesn't look like a blog, so the capability to change the CSS is essential. Their longer-term plans are to have a capability for members to be able to add their profile with a couple of photos, and have a forum. They've got ideas about the design, and the content is available. They would like guidance on hosting, too. Their office is not wheelchair-accessible.

The group campaigns on: genocide and crimes against humanity; asylum and immigration; religious and racial discrimination; and economic, social and cultural rights. Their website runs on Drupal. They would like the ability to put audio and video podcasts, and document files onto the website. They also want to make minor stylistic changes. They would like to have the capability to enable people to join their mailing list and to make payments for events through PayPal. They would like some hands-on training on Drupal, particularly with things they're stuck on. Lastly, if you can optimise the site for search engines, this would be a bonus.

There are charity staff at about 70 prisons helping prisoners record stories, but all the editing is done at Dartmoor. They would like to have a secure staff only area on their website that provides a forum and the capability to upload resources on to the web server.

The person who currently supports the network is leaving soon, so they're looking for a local volunteer who would be available to come in and rectify problems when they occur and also to train staff to solve simple problems and do simple maintenance tasks. You'll need to undergo a CRB check. Please note there is no wheelchair access.

They provide a friendly community atmosphere where people can take part in formal learning, structured activities and socialise with friends. They are moving towards provision of accredited programmes of learning. They have a network of PCs running Windows XP and MS Office 2003, the server runs Linux. They currently have a Courses Access database on one PC and an income and expenditure and invoicing Access database on another PC. They would like to migrate the accounting information to a standard package that would be easier to maintain and teach to new staff. It doesn't have to be Sage, providing that it is an 'off the shelf' package, with which they can buy training and support. They want you to implement the package, help them set up the chart of accounts and reference data, and migrate existing accounting data and customer details. They also want to extract invoicing details from the Courses database so that it can be used by the package through an interface. They would also like some initial training.
