Welcome!
Welcome to the July edition of the iT4Communities volunteering newsletter.
We've some exciting news this month as we've just agreed to work together with the Nominet Trust in a Mentoring Project. For experienced IT professionals there will be opportunities to be a mentor to increase the help you give charities. For the less experienced there's a chance to find a mentor to help you with the next stage of your career. Read about the project or contact Anne Stafford for more details - email: anne@it4communities.org.uk, tel: 020 7796 2144.
It's been an amazing year so far! A massive increase in the number of volunteers registered - thanks everyone - has seen you deliver over £300,000 worth of support to charities throughout the UK.
There's also been a huge amount of interest in our volunteering opportunities. Thank you so much!. Please let us know if you have tried to contact an organization and found it hard to make contact or if the volunteer place was already filled. We may be able to help you find an alternative and we can keep the opportunities up to date for others.
We always get fewer requests from charities for help in the summer months. If you know of charities or groups needing help and wish to refer them to us and one of your virtual colleagues in the iT4Communities volunteer community, now is a good time. We've volunteers ready and willing to help.
We enjoyed reading about your reasons for volunteering so much that we want to share it with everyone. See some quotes here.
We've recently changed the registration form so you can tell us why you volunteer and where you heard about iT4Communities. If you haven't seen the changes please sign in to take a look and make sure your details are up to date. We don't want to lose touch with you.
And don't forget to take a look at this month's opportunities of the month.
Finally, if you find that volunteering in the UK is not quite exciting enough and you've a few weeks to spare CAMFED are looking for IT volunteers and tutors for opportunities in Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
