A volunteer has produced a really good WordPress based website for them. To complete this project they now need someone to show them how to update the site themselves so short one to one sessions are required. Please can you also ensure that they have all of the details for hosting so that they are not reliant on a volunteer in the future. Finally, they would like to know much more about who visits their site, can you help them set up Google Analytics or similar please? If you would be happy to be a point of call for web related queries that would be great however if you can just give 2 days worth of time to get them to be self sufficient then that would also be much appreciated. The previous volunteer is very happy to help with the handover.

They would like you to redesign the website in line with their ideas, implement a content management system so that they can update the site with text and pictures; and implement a forum. They also want to add videos and newsletters. They need you to teach them how to update the site and administer the forum and they would like to work closely with you on the set up. They're open to your using a different technology if Wordpress doesn't suit you, they also have Dreamweaver. Opportunity Name: Advice on maintaining and managing website - London, N7
Skill Type: Consultancy
Region: London
Locality: Islington
Postcode: N7
Virtual: NoDescription: This charity provides support and advice to women in the Greek and Greek Cypriot communities. They provide IT training enabling woman to improve their skills and build confidence. They can provide assistance for woman interested in starting their own business. They also provide advice on general welfare issues - housing, health, help with form filling etc. The charity had a website developed for them but are unsure how to manage and maintain it themselves as they have no documentation. At this stage they would like a volunteer to assess the current site and advise on how they should proceed. The main question is whether the site can be maintained in its current form or should be rebuilt from scratch. Issues that need to be considered are: 1. the development tools used - the charity have some Dreamweaver experience but the site has been developed in Frontpage; 2. where the source resides; 3. how to do uploads; 4. can templates be developed to simplify page creation; 5. creating multi-lingual versions of pages; 6. making the site accessible and DDA compliant. This is an opportunity for an assertive, self-managing volunteer as the charity staff have a lot of demands on their time. The initial contact will be via a Circuit Rider who has been working with the charity and will facilitate the introduction between charity and volunteer.
Opportunity Name: Plan, Cost, and Implement Network Upgrade
Skill Type: Network
Region: North West
Locality: Kendal
Postcode: LA9
Virtual: NoDescription: This charity based in Kendal provides practical and emotional support for people with sight problems. They have a peer-to-peer network with 11 PCs running Windows XP and Vista used by staff; but there are also 5 laptops used to demonstrate assistive technology that have access to printers and the internet, and 2 PCs used by their social enterprise that have access to the internet. They want to upgrade to a server-based network, but there are also a number of problems that might need to be discussed as well. They would like your help to advise what would be needed for the upgrade and to cost the additional equipment and software, so that they can get their trustees' agreement. They have prepared a specification. They want to be involved in the upgrade, so that they can carry on by themselves after you've finished, and so they'll need a bit of training on the tasks that need to be done. The contact seems experienced in general IT.
