They have bought Checkpoint endpoint security and need someone to work with the suppliers and carry out project management and implementation of the new system.The volunteer will report to the Head of ICT, will have relevant project management qualifications (for example, PRINCE2) and will have substantial prior project management experience.They're expecting that this will need two to three days per week.

Their grants are purposeful, with the intention of making a sustainable improvement in the lives of recipients. They also support a local Credit Union and the funding of projects teaching financial literacy to school children. The director of the charity uses Dreamweaver 8 to keep their website up-to-date and is confident in the basics of editing and creating pages. He'd like to make the site more interactive and would appreciate some training to help him incorporate Flash components, to add surveys, and to create a grant application form. If you can also show him how to use Dreamweaver to improve design without using tables that would be a bonus. He's flexible about time and would be happy to meet you in the evening, at weekends or even in your lunch hour.

They support between 300 & 400 thousand arts organizations ! They have a network of PCs running Windows XP and MS Office 2003. They have installed MS Project as a server version so that staff can manage projects collaboratively. They would like an experienced MS Project Server 2007 user to provide training on how to use MS Project Server 2007 at beginner level for up to 6 people.

Description: This charity based in Plymouth provides resources and support to anyone working with children in the region. They operate a toy library and scrapstore and have a small arts shop where members can purchase materials at reasonable prices. They would like a small website to publicise their work and to put their catalogue of resources online. They want a site which is easy to use and visually attractive - visitors to their premises are often impressed by how visually exciting their projects are and they'd like that to be reflected in the website. The board of trustees would like to be involved in decisions about the site and are already thinking about ideas for design and layout. One of the trustees has good IT knowledge and would like to learn how to keep the site updated in future. The resources catalogue is currently available in a printed form and they'd like to discuss the best way to make this available online so that people can easily view what is available. They will also need advice on the choice of hosting, domain name registration, etc. The Charity feels that this opportunity is not something that can be done remotely. So a local volunteer to Plymouth would be great.

Description: This national mental health charity based in Manchester provides advice and support to people affected by anxiety disorders and phobias. They provide access to therapies, fact sheets and a helpline, as well as representing anxiety sufferers in the media. They want their website overhauled. It's difficult to update, which is why there's content on the site that is severely out of date so they need a content management system, it's difficult to integrate new technologies like Twitter, Facebook, wikis and blogs. It's quite difficult to navigate and find certain pages. It also looks dated, with its narrow page width and portrait design meaning a lot of space is going to waste. There are plenty of plus points on the site, notably the amount of factsheets and information on there as well as the one-to-one chat facility. However, it desperately needs revamping. They would also like to redevelop the e-commerce side, so that they can bring more income into the charity. They would like you to review the website and create a specification for the redevelopment of the website, that has an improved design, builds on their successes, allows the integration of new functionality and resolves the problems they currently have. They'll then use the specification either for an iT4C volunteer, or for a paid-for external developer to build the redesigned site.

Description: This Community Interest Company works with the children and communities of the areas of deprivation around Kensington, Liverpool. Reaching over 250,000 children a year + hosting a range of other services they are vital part of community cohesion in the area. Due to a relocation they are left with no budget to buy in technical support and their network is suffering from a year with no maintenance - they have a slow system and various small niggles on the 5 computers they use. They are looking for a network administrator/desktop support person to come in over a day or two to audit the network and carry out some maintenance work to get them into a more secure and stable position. They want you to implement the package, help them set up the chart of accounts and reference data, and migrate existing accounting data and customer details. They also want to extract invoicing details from the Courses database so that it can be used by the package through an interface. They would also like some initial training.

They would like something to reflect their professionalism but it needs to be easy to reproduce and probably only involve a couple of colours. They would like to work with a volunteer with design skills who can help them choose an eye-catching design. They're happy to work remotely on this.
