Your first contact with a volunteer

iT4Communities volunteers are expected to be experienced IT professionals. This means that you can be confident that the volunteer you work with will have the skills they need.

We require an IT professional to have:

  • At least three year's technical experience in a working environment, or
  • A relevant professional qualification and at least one year's technical experience in a working environment

An IT professional should be willing to follow the guidelines imposed by the BCS Code of Conduct and Code of Good Practice.

However, he or she doesn't need to be a member of the BCS.

Vetting volunteers

We have only a small team at iT4Communities and we don't have time to vet all of our registered volunteers. We recommend that you meet with potential volunteers - or have a chat on the phone - and carry out a few simple checks to be sure that you will be happy working with them. They will probably also have some questions for you.
