What is an IT professional?

Read some real examples of how volunteers have helped

We have over 5,000 volunteers registered with us. They are based throughout the UK, and sometimes abroad, and have a wide range of IT-related skills.

Our volunteers are all IT professionals with varying levels of experience. Some have recently graduated and are working for large organisations; some are entrepreneurs running their own business; others are now retired after a long career in industry.

They all have one thing in common - they want to share their time and talent for a good cause!

Why do people volunteer?

Just to let you know that Andrew (volunteer) and I are working well together remotely. He has done a brilliant job and has done a lot of work on the project in a very short time. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for helping me find such a brilliant volunteer. He has grasped my needs very quickly and has worked quickly on the project and communicated well... Thank you so much.

There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer with iT4Communities. They include:

  • Supporting organisations whose aims and beliefs they share or which serve their local communities.
  • Gaining experience of working in the VCS.
  • Practising skills that they don't often use in their working lives

Ultimately, however, they're all hoping to help organisations just like yours.
