Geographic distribution of volunteers

We live in a very remote area, hundreds of miles from any of the volunteers, yet have managed to benefit from the project via e-mail and telephone communication with the volunteers . . . Both projects will, in due course, help our organisation to become more efficient, saving valuable resources and enabling us to spend more time on practical work within our community.

If there aren't many volunteers in your area or they don't have the skills you need you could work with a virtual volunteer.

A virtual volunteer is someone you'll probably never meet. You'll communicate with them by e-mail and telephone and they'll carry out the work when and where it suits them.

Not all opportunities are suitable for virtual support. But a website can easily be developed without a face-to-face meeting. Or a volunteer could give you advice over the telephone on choosing software.

Working with a virtual volunteer poses new challenges - you need to communicate regularly!

If you think you'd like to work with a virtual volunteer please let us know.
